Stunning vintage 32cm HAC Birkin in Vache Natural.

This bag dates from 1984 and is one of the very first Birkins. The HAC was the original travel bag model from which Hermes created the Birkin by making it handbag size and changing the proportions so that is was not quite as tall. Today Hermes makes both HAC and Birkins in handbag sizes, however they have different metal hardware. This bag is extremely special as you can see Hermes experimenting with the design in its early stages.

Although it is a HAC it features the same hardware as the Birkin; square(instead of rounded)brackets to hold the straps as well as a round Birkin turnkey, as opposed the square one normally used on the HAC. Also note that the strap brackets are open on the bottom end instead of the top which is a feature of the very first Birkins.

This bag is incredible not only as it is historically of interest, also for its beauty. The leather has taken on the most amazing glow and patina. It takes years for Vache Naturel to develop this kind of patina.

The overall condition is amazing. A little bit of surface cracking on one straps as pictured, otherwise no dryness or cracking to the leather. The corners show very little wear and the handles are still quite light. The interior is excellent without damage or stains. Again, there is an overall patina comprising watermarks and slight scratches..but that is exactly what you want with this kind of leather.
